Overview

The EIME PhD program is designed to provide students with a balance between depth and breadth and between theory and practice in educational research. The EIME program consists of 6 interrelated components that provide a common core as well as choice and flexibility to accommodate the needs and interests of individual students.

Prerequisites

Students are expected to have previously acquired competencies equivalent to satisfactory completion of these master's level courses.

  • CPSE 629 or IP&T 629: Introduction to Research
  • IP&T 652: Assessing Learning Outcomes
  • CPSE 651 & IP&T 651: Statistics 1: Foundations

Students can show proof of competence by describing experiences they have obtained or products they have developed. New students should consult with their program advisor to determine what requirements they have completed and which, if any, courses they need to complete.

Graduation Requirements

  • Required Courses (27 credit hours)
  • Methodology Electives (12+ credit hours)
  • Content Area Specialty (12+ credit hours)
  • 4 Seminars (2 credit hours)
  • 2 Internships (6 credit hours)
  • Dissertation (18 credit hours)

Graduation Details

How To Apply

Admissions for the EIME PhD program have been temporarily paused. Admissions will resume Fall 2027

  • Complete graduate application form, available here.
  • Test scores (GRE, TOEFL/E3PT for non-native speakers)
  • Offical transcripts of all previous college and university studies
  • Completed Master’s Degree required
  • Letter of intent including career goals and reason for applying, along with any related coursework completed and any prior experience in education research, evaluation, or measurement projects.
  • 3 letters of recommendation
  • Completed Ecclesiastical Endorsement form
